Lavender is natural antibiotic, antiseptic, antidepressant, sedative and detoxifier that promotes healing and prevents scarring. It also stimulates the immune system and stimulates cells to generate more quickly.

Lavender's therapeutic properties were rediscovered by cosmetic chemist René Maurice Gattefosse in 1937 when he burned himself in a lab explostion. Gattefosse dunked his arm in the nearest cold liquid, which happened to be lavender oil. His burn healed remarkably fast, with minimal pain an scarring. He then coined the term aromatherapy.
